Where boats leave from
- Playas del Coco beach: fishing and dive boats meet guests on the beach. One operator names the area near Amor de Temporada park. Your operator confirms the exact spot.
- Marina Papagayo: a full-service marina on the Papagayo Peninsula. Ask your operator if your boat leaves from here.
What you can do
- Inshore and offshore fishing
- Catamaran sails and sunset trips
- Snorkeling and diving at nearby islands and rocks, including the Catalinas
- Private boats for groups
Good to know
- Getting there: Coco is a short drive from Liberia's international airport (LIR).
- Dry season and wind: the dry season runs roughly December to April, and strong trade winds blow mainly from December to March, according to the Guanacaste Conservation Area (ACG), which manages these waters. The captain decides whether a trip goes out, or changes the route.
- Bat Islands: these islands are in a protected marine area managed by the ACG. Visitors can't go ashore. Ask your operator about reservations and fishing rules there.
- Diving: bring your certification card.
